In the essay ‘Between Memory and History: Les Lieux de Mémoire’ the author, Pierre Nora, makes the argument that memory takes different forms. He more specifically talks about the differences between ‘true’ memory and indirect memory; true memory being gestures, habits, skills pass down, ingrained memory, etc. and indirect memory being passed through history.
